Information for New Physicians
As a new (or soon to be) practicing physician you're faced with making a lot of important decisions and we would like to help make one of those easier for you - choosing a medical malpractice insurance provider.
We are a company directed by healthcare professionals. A majority of our Board of Directors are physicians. We understand the liability issues you face. Our claim philosophy and policy coverage have been developed with the input of your medical peers.
As you consider purchasing medical malpractice insurance, you need to consider...
Coverage Limits - the amount of money the insurer will pay per claim and for all claims in the specified time period the policy is in effect. A $1 million/$3 million limit means that the insurer will pay any individual claim up to $1 million and all claims up to a total of $3 million for the specified length of the policy period. Usually, the specified time period is one year. We suggest you discuss your coverage needs with an insurance agent.
Risk Management Support Risk management consultants help you practice safer medicine. They identify high-risk areas of medical practice and develop programs to decrease those risks. These programs help both the physician and insurer reduce the occurrence of malpractice claims.
Every ProMutual Group policyholder has the full support of our nationally recognized Risk Management Department. Our risk management professionals will provide you with a full range of services to help minimize your risk of involvement in a claim or suit including a personalized office appraisal to identify risk areas in your practice and develop strategies to address those risks.
Claims Service Support – We hope you
will never need the assistance of our Claim
Department staff. However, if you do, you will
find that our defense philosophy is based on
aggressively defending policyholders. Our
insureds are defended by top law firms that
specialize in medical malpractice defense.
In 2006 77% of cases were closed without an
indemnity payment due to an early, aggressive investigation process and we
won more than 90% of the cases that went to
verdict.
With ProMutual Group you can save money.
You may be eligible for a substantial discount if you are entering solo or group practice for the first time within
two years of completing initial residency, initial fellowship, or military service. Ask one of our agents how much you can save.
